Today What Went Well Was:
In Literacy we started a planning page for our grade 1 stories. In Math we had a pre-assessment for volume and capacity. In the afternoon we started to record our immigrant stories and give feedback to another person. We finished the day by making our robots go through a maze. Agenda Message: Hat day is on Wednesday May 2nd. please wear a ht or a toque to show support for mental heath. Our. Dr. Egbert tour is tomorrow morning. This is only for students attending the school next year.

Today What Went Well Was:
In Literacy we read our immigrant stories to a friend and did a peer assessment. In Math we had our final day to finish up our designing a home floor plan. We also started to write our stories based on the drawings that were sent to us from our buddies at James Short. In Science we continued to program our robot and started to design a maze. In Gym we played badminton games. Agenda Message: Tomorrow is our Spring Concert! from 6-7pm. We will be supplying pizza and drinks for those who stay until the performance. Please make sure you return your form for after school or you will not be able to stay for pizza. Tim Horton's Camp is coming soon! it is on May 8-11. We have been doing excellent in our drumming residency! and we are continuing to practice for our spring concert on Thursday April 26. In Literacy Block we looked at a rubric and will start to practice saying our stories out loud. In Math we continued to work on area and perimeter. We are designing our own house floor plan. In Gym we are starting to play games in badminton. In art we are creating West African sunsets with pastels. these will be on display for our Spring Concert. Agenda Message: Our Spring Concert is this Thursday April 26th from 6-7pm. We encourage students to stay after school for rehearsal and we will supply them with pizza and drinks. In Literacy and Social studies we continued to work on our first person story on the immigrant group we researched. In Math we started a task of designing our dream house, and started to design our first room. We will find the area and perimeter of our house when we are done. In Science we continued to build our robots. In Health we finished looking at researching the effects of tobacco, caffeine, and alcohol. We started our Drumming today and it was a blast! we will be doing this everyday leading up to our cpring concert. In Literacy we looked at more first person texts. We also took time to complete a survey with Mrs. Scarrow. In Gym we worked on rallying with a partner and introduced serving the birdie. In Math we were given an area had to draw it as a rectangle and find out the length and width. In Social Studies we watched some heritage minutes and looked at what point of view they were in. We will create our own first person heritage minute on our immigrant group that we researched. In Science we began to build our robots In health we researched how different substances can be harmful to your body both physically and emotionally. Agenda Message: We start our drumming residency this week on April 18th. Two more forms were sent home today: The first is about our Spring Concert on Thursday, April 26th. We expect students to stay at school until the concert for rehearsals. We will supply pizza and drinks for everyone along with plenty of activities for those not rehearsing. The second was our Tim Horton's Ranch form. Please take a look and return it signed as soon as possible. The sooner we get then back the sooner we can get organize the rest of the trip. In Literacy we looked a poems in first perspective and then wrote our own version in first perspective. In Math we practiced using the area and perimeter formula on different rectangles. In Literacy block we looked at more first perspective and third perspective texts. When then went on to tumble books and wrote stories in third and first perspectives. In Health we talked about how tobacco, caffeine and alcohol can be harmful to your body. In Math we introduced the formula for area and perimeter. In Science we continued coding. In Social Studies we worked on our storyboards of the immigrant communities we researched. Agenda Message: tonight is our mandatory parent meeting for Tim Hortons Ranch. Welcome Back! Today In room 5 we started off by looking at different points of view in story writing. Today we looked at 1st point of view and 3rd point of view and examples of each. In Music we started to research some West Africa instruments, specifically drumming in preparation for our drumming residency this month. In Math we had a pre-assessment check in on area and perimeter so Mr Kaduhr could get a good understanding of what we already know, and what we need more help with. In Gym we started a new unit of badminton and worked on hand eye coordination. In our library time Ms. Hunt showed us imaginative fiction books. In Science we began our robotics unit by doing some practice coding online. Agenda Message: Mandatory parent meeting on thursday night for our outdoor school with Tim Hortons Camp. They will be sending some of there staff to give us more information about our trip. On Thursday, April 12 we will have a Jersey Day or Green/Yellow day to show support of the Humboldt Broncos tragedy last week. |
