Today What Went Well Was:
In Literacy block we continued with our research. In Math we looked at quadrilaterals and how we classify different shapes. Parallel lines, angles, intersecting lines etc... In Health we continued human sexuality and look at the female anatomy today. In Music we are learning 3-Dimensional perspective drawings, and cords on a ukulele and piano. In Science we are looking at chemical and physical reactions. Agenda Message: Celebration of learning is June 14th 6-7pm.

Today What Went Well Was:
In Literacy we continued to research our 7 Canadian regions. In Math we had a pre assessment on 2-D shapes. In Library we looked at first person narratives, and how we can use inferencing to find the meaning of the author. In Health we continued our human sexuality unit and looked at the male anatomy. In literacy we started to research the 7 different regions in Canada. Once we collect our research we will create a final presentation of our choice on our region. In math we had a final assessment on capacity and volume. In Gym we are learning both kickball and lacrosse. In Health we started our human sexuality unit and will continue this for the week. We have also started to design our stained glass legacy piece. We will start drawing on it tomorrow. Agenda Message: Only a month left in school. In Literacy Block we finished our booklets and had time to receive feedback. In Math we did a practice page on ml and L and finding the capacity of objects. We had an assembly by room 4 grade 5s and they talked all about our experience at Tim Horton's Camp. Agenda Message: Please return the human sexuality form if you wish to opt out of next weeks lessons. students must learn this material in grade 5, so if you feel more comfortable teaching it at home that is totally fine. Today in literacy we had a fire drill and room 5 was excellent. In Math we worked on another capacity word problem. We then had the privilege to work with a local expert in bird watching and Calgary's wetlands. His name was Mr. Andrew and he helped us build our very own bird house today. Stay tuned for photos. In Literacy we Finished our guided reading booklets In Math found the capacity of different items in the classroom. In Gym we played a new version of kickball. In mindfulness we brainstormed what gratitude means, and wrote letters to Tim Hortons Camp and their facilitators. This trip was such a privilege and we want to make sure we tell them how thankful we are. In Social we started to make a map of Canada and label it will all the provinces, territories, capital cities, major cities, and bodies of water. In Literacy we continued our short story booklet. In Math and Science we constructed our own home made paper cups and tested to see how much water each could hold. In Gym we went outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather and played kickball. In Literacy we continued with our guided reading/ short story. In Music we looked at some cords on a guitar. In Math we finished our volume and area of G.W. Skene. In Gym we started a new unit in Lacrosse. In Library Ms. Hunt showed us the history and geography section. We will be using this section during our regions of Canada unit. In Literacy we started our guided reading again and started some new short stories. In Math we calculated the area and volume of G.W. Skene In Social Studies we watched an introductory video to the regions and landscapes across Canada. We finished typing out our James Short Stories. In literacy we finished up our immigrant stories and we put them into iMovie to add pictures to our story. We also worked on typing out our stories the we have been writing from our grade 1 pictures that our buddies drew. In Science we cleaned up a lot of our robotics equipment. We also wrote down our observations from our experiment last week, as well as started a new experiment today. Agenda Message: Out door school is tomorrow! we are all so excited to have this opportunity. Please remember to read your packing list and make sure you are on school on time prepared to go. Students that are not attending will be learning with Ms. Tonkin and they will be going on a walk to Elliston Park tomorrow afternoon. Picture forms are due tomorrow May 8th. |
